The Living Kills – “Faceless Angels” LP
The Living Kills’ debut album Faceless Angels – produced and engineered by band member Brenden Beu (Male Bonding, O’Death, Pissed Jeans) and mixed by Alex Newport (Death Cab for Cutie, Mars Volta, At the Drive-In) – evokes everything from the lysergic mind-meld of the Thirteenth Floor Elevators and The Calico Wall to the brooding power of The Black Angels and the wistfulness of early REM.
The Strange Attractors “Midnight At Xochil’s”
We’re pleased to be able to offer preorders for the 180 gram vinyl version of the new STRANGE ATTRACTORS record Midnight At Xochil’s, slated to hit the streets in July 2011. Xochil’s, produced by CHE ARTHUR and engineered by Michael Landon, is the third full length for the Austin, Texas based quartet, which includes former and current members of the Riverboat Gamblers and the Ugly Beats, among others.
Those familiar with the band’s previous work will notice a slight lean away from the psych rock of their earlier recordings and a lean towards just plain old rock. Rock of the T. Rex/Slade/Sweet/Wizzard type variety. Lots of guitar. You get my drift.
As always, buy the preorder below and you’ll immediately receive the hi-res MP3 version of the album. So there.
Bee Control 7″
Bee Control is a hardcore trio composed of Dave Laney (Milemarker, Auxes, Challenger), Trevor de Brauw (Pelican, Tusk, Chord) and Theo Katsaounis (Joan of Arc, Locks, Hey Tonal, et al ad infinitum). The four quick blasts that comprise the tracklisting of the group’s debut 7″ are a distillation of the ferocity and simplicity of early 80′s hardcore with the willful avantisms and lyrical nihilism that informed the mid-90′s punk scene in which these musicians originally got their start. At the core of the EP is a desire to tap into the same fertile soil in which their musical lives originally took root, to recapture and reevaluate their youthful rage with wisened eyes, and to eradicate any misconceptions of middle aged contentment – the bitterness increases by the day.
Satellite Voices – “Scarlet Rays Of Future Echoes”
Satellite Voices are a futurist pop band based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Formed during a short hiatus from lead vocalist Knol Tate’s seminal Twin Cities project Askeleton in the summer of 2009, Satellite Voices consists of former and current members of other notable acts such as Killsadie, Hidden Chord, One for the Team, The Swiss Army, Spirit of ‘76, Communist Daughter, and Dance Band.
The group combines elements of futurism and experimentation along with clever instrumentation and an intelligent approach to songwriting creating, if you will, a minimalist approach to modern complexity.
Head Of Skulls! “You Became Your Mind” LP
Chicago’s Head of Skulls! is former and current members of Milemarker, Pinebender, Atombombpocketknife, Tight Phantomz, Hurl and more. They’re a 3-piece, loud as balls, full-on rock band that reminds us of a time when rock bands were still actually good sometimes. To put it a different way, we like Superchunk, Black Flag, Wire, Hot Snakes, Devo and Head of Skulls!
The Strange Attractors “The Strange Attractors”
The Strange Attractors “Sleep and You Will See” LP
Sleep and You Will See is the second album by Austin-based The Strange Attractors. The album delivers
on the promise of their first, self‐titled release with a set of exploratory yet smartly crafted modern psychedelic
pop songs. We’re reminded what might have happened if Spacemen 3 had been weaned on loud Texas garage
rock.
The Che Arthur Three “Like Revenge” LP
The Che Arthur Three features multi-instrumentalist/songwriter/sound engineer/producer Che Arthur, former guitarist of the regarded Chicago quartet Atombombpocketknife. Like Revenge, Arthur’s third album, forges together the elements of postpunk, classic heavy rock and dark acoustic intropection – already there in his past work – in the most cohesive way a Che Arthur record has done yet.
